Electronic Editing: the translation in the original layout
Desktop publishing of the translated document so it reproduces the original, with tables, charts, images and formatting preserved, in the software your file requires.
- Layout reproduced faithfully
- Word, InDesign, AutoCAD, PowerPoint and others
- Handles the change in text length
What electronic editing is
Electronic editing, also called desktop publishing, is the service that places the translation in the same layout as the original document. It is carried out in whichever software the file requires: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, InDesign, AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW.
Why this is not a detail. Translated text changes length. German tends to expand and English to contract, and that difference breaks tables, overflows text boxes and misaligns figure captions. Without electronic editing you receive the right content in a document that has fallen apart.
The Eko’s team reproduces the layout faithfully, with the flexibility to handle large projects to tight deadlines. The final check compares the translated file with the original page by page, verifying tables, charts, footnotes, numbering and cross-references.
Formats we work with
Editing is done in whichever software your original file requires.
Word and editable PDF
Manuals, reports, contracts and documents with chapters, tables of contents and indexes.
InDesign
Catalogues, institutional magazines, brochures and campaign artwork.
PowerPoint
Commercial decks, presentations and training material with heavy design.
Excel
Spreadsheets, balance sheets and reports with extensive tables and formulas.
AutoCAD
Plans, technical drawings and projects with captions and dimensions to translate.
Closed PDF and images
Scanned documents with no editable file, rebuilt from scratch.
When you need it
The reasons files most often arrive here for editing.
Delivering ready to use
The translated document arrives in the same format as the original, with nothing for your team to rebuild.
Translating a PDF with no source file
When only the PDF or a scan exists, editing recreates the layout.
Publishing in several languages
The same catalogue in five languages, each version respecting the space the text takes.
Keeping brand identity
Fonts, colours, grid and hierarchy preserved, so the material still looks like yours.
Technical documents with drawings
Plans and diagrams where the translated caption has to fit the same space.
Printing abroad
A closed file in the standard the printer in the destination country requires.

What electronic editing costs
Editing is priced by number of pages, by layout complexity and by the software involved. A page of running text in Word and a page of an InDesign catalogue with twenty images are jobs of different scales.
Documents that arrive only as a PDF or a scan, with no editable file, need the layout recreated from scratch, which takes longer. That appears in the quote before you approve it.
When translation and editing are done here together it costs less than commissioning them separately, because there is no file going back and forth between suppliers and none of the rework that usually comes with it.
Credibility built over 24 years
Specialists in each field
Every project goes to translators with proven experience in your sector, with a dedicated glossary and consistency across your documents.
Quality control at every stage
No file leaves without a check of terminology, cohesion and fidelity to the source. Quality is part of the service, not an extra.
Confidentiality guaranteed by contract
A confidentiality agreement with the whole team, and a specific NDA when your company requires one, signed before the quote.
Delivered in the original layout
Electronic editing included when needed: tables, charts, images and formatting preserved in the final file.
We handle real urgency
Express delivery with a dedicated team for short deadlines, without dropping the quality process.
A quote within 1 business hour
A closed price and a defined deadline before we start, with no surprise costs at the end.
More than 30 languages, one standard of quality
From the most requested pairs to the rarest ones, always with translators qualified in the target language and quality control before delivery.

Eko’s has been a partner for many years. Always attentive and willing to meet tight deadlines without losing the excellent quality. Having Eko’s makes a real difference in our work.
Eko’s always meets our demand and hits the deadline. They have never turned down an urgent request. They deliver quality work and are one of the very few companies qualified to work with us.
I want to congratulate Eko’s for all these years of partnership, serving us with excellence and with highly qualified, efficient professionals.
From the first contact I was well looked after, transparency at every stage and not a single problem with them, a fair price for all the work done. I do not live in Brazil and they handled every step to send my daughter’s certificate, already apostilled, here to the US.
Faster and better value than anyone else. Excellent work, service worth a ten out of ten.
I did not know them, but I decided to take a chance and have some documents translated with Eko’s. They were fast, attentive and the price was fair too. I am pleased with the service and I recommend them.
Electronic Editing
What is electronic editing?
It is the desktop publishing of the translated document so that it reproduces the layout of the original. It involves placing the text, adjusting breaks, rebuilding tables, repositioning images and captions, and returning a file ready for use or for print.
Why does a translation need editing?
Because translated text rarely takes the same space as the original. German and Portuguese tend to expand relative to English, which breaks tables, overflows text boxes, misaligns captions and disrupts the table of contents. Without editing you receive the right content in a document that has fallen apart.
Which software do you work in?
Word, PowerPoint, Excel, InDesign, AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator and CorelDRAW, always according to what the original file requires.
What if I only have a PDF, with no editable file?
That can be done. The layout is recreated from the PDF or the scan. It takes longer than working from an editable file, and that appears in the quote, but the final result is equivalent.
Is editing included in the translation?
When the file is editable and the layout is simple, basic formatting is included. Catalogue, long manual, plan and artwork layout is a separate service and appears itemised in the quote so you can decide.
In which format do you deliver?
In the original editable format and as a PDF. If the material is going to print, the file is closed to the standard the printer requires, with crop marks and bleed.
Send your document and get a closed price
A legible photo or a PDF is enough for a quote. You get the price, the deadline and guidance on apostilling within 1 business hour.
