It is used on occasions when speakers and listeners speak different languages. The speaker talks for a predetermined amount of time, and the translator interprets into the language of the listeners.

Speaking times can be a few minutes or short sentences and are agreed upon by those involved.

In most cases, the use of specific equipment is not required for this type of translation. A microphone and the same sound equipment used by the speaker will work.

It is usually performed at informal events, company meetings, and events in general that have a small audience.
